MoChWo-2025 Symposium Proposal Development Guidelines

We are pleased to invite proposals for symposia to be featured at the 7th International Conference on Mountains in the Changing World (MoChWo-2025), to be held on October 10-11, 2025, in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Symposia should align with the conference theme and address pressing issues related to mountain ecosystems, communities, development, or emerging challenges.

Symposium Proposal Format

Please structure your proposal using the following format:
(a) Title and Description
Symposium Title: A concise, engaging title (max 20 words)
Symposium Description: A 300-word overview that clearly:

  • Introduces the topic and its relevance to mountain systems.

  • Aligns the session with the overall MoChWo theme and sub-theme(s).

  • Justifies why this symposium is important and timely.

  • Highlights specific topics to be covered in the session.

  • Example themes: biodiversity, climate change, pollution, sustainable development, policy, resilience, indigenous knowledge, etc.

(b) Lead and Partner Organization(s)

  • Name the lead organizing institution.

  • Mention any collaborating organizations (if applicable).

(c) Session Format and Duration
Specify how the session will be organized:

  • Oral presentations (total time recommended: 90 minutes):
    One invited speaker (30 minutes)
    Three to four general speakers (15 minutes each)
    Poster presentations (optional): Indicate number expected.

  • Panel Discussions or Others

(d) Preliminary List of Presenters
Provide a tentative list of speakers, if possible:

  • Invited speaker(s) (indicate if confirmed or TBD)

  • Regular speakers with tentative presentation titles (if available)

  • Title is clear and aligned with MoChWo theme.

  • Description addresses relevance and significance.

  • Organizing institution(s) identified.

  • Session format and duration outlined.

  • Tentative speakers listed (or marked as TBD).
